Nearly 4,000 illegal drug pushers and drug users had surrendered in Tagum City, Davao Del Norte in line with the city’s intensified campaign against illegal drugs with a theme “Seryosong Tagumenyo Ayaw ng Droga” or STAnD, headed by city Mayor Allan L. Rellon.
The campaign was also supported by Davao North Provincial Governor Anthony G. Del Rosario. According to him, there were 2,500 illegal drug personalities had surrendered in Davao North province. This was an addition to 4,000 who gave up all from Tagum City.
Those who had surrendered took their oath inside Tagum City Hall Auditorium. Governor Del Rosario urged the community to join and cooperate with the government to combat illegal drug trade. Some of the drug addicts who had surrendered was already warned to stop their illegal drug habit because President Duterte has been serious to exterminate all illegal drug personalities in the country.
It was also reported that a certain drug addict and a seller of illegal drug who had surrendered in Tagum City Government told, “I Still want to see my baby grow, I don’t want to be punished by President Duterte, I Promise that I will stop using and selling illegal drugs starting today.”
In history of Tagum City, it was the highest number of illegal drug addicts and users who surrendered within 24 hours following thousands of illegal drug pushers and addicts surrendered in General Santos City before Rodrigo Duterte take his oath as president of the Philippines.
Netizens praise the efforts of Tagum City and expresses support to President Duterte’s mission in fighting illegal drugs in the country.
