Police had arrested a carpenter accused of raping his nine-month-old baby in Taytay, Rizal in the Philippines.
The suspect, named Rodolfo Valle, Jr., 34, however denied the charges saying that he was innocent.
“My conscience is clear and I cannot do such a crime.” Valle said, PhilStar reports.
Valle’s partner, who is four months pregnant insisted that only Valle, a drug addict could commit such crime.
Rizal police director, Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Anduyan said the couple is residing at a mountainous portion of Barangay San Juan with their closest neighbors, just a kilometer away.
Reports said that Valle’s partner brought her child to a clinic for examination as she kept on chilling despite the fair weather.
As the doctor noticed the child’s sex organ “blackened”, the mother advised to seek the assistance of Superintendent Resty Damaso, police chief of Taytay.
Reports said Damaso had the child examined by Chief Inspector Maria Anna Lisa de la Cruz of police crime laboratory, who confirmed that the child’s sex organ had lacerated wounds.
The findings prompted the local police together with municipal social welfare officers to arrest Valle, who then gave himself up peacefully.
Valle’s partner vowed to pursue the statutory rape charges filed by police against Valle.
“I only wanted him to admit the crime as nobody would do such a thing as only the two of us are in the house,” said Valle’s partner”.
