A Vermont church in Quechee is closing after 142 years, said to be put up for sale.
The protestant church has been open to people since 1873, but because of the
rising maintenance costs, and steady drop in membership, the church forces to close
and the final service was held on Christmas eve.
“A village without a church; it’s very hard to accept that, and it’s rough. But maybe it’s just a trend of the times. But it is sad.” — Pat Lewis, Quechee Community Church member
The church held a special day of remembrance last Jan. 10, and shut its doors forever.
