A new practice from Berlin has invaded Australia, Beer Yoga, a unique way of achieving a higher state of being and eventual transcendence of the self through the practice of yoga.
The trending practice let everyone to do both, drinking beer and doing yoga at the same time.
Beer Yoga first enjoyed by Berlin hipsters, and now its found a way to Australian shores—a country where beer’s most definitely a religious practice, at least as much as yoga.
According to Germany’s BierYoga also known as BeerYoga bills itself as the “marriage of two great loves—beer and yoga. Both are centuries-old are being combined.”
The newest exercise’s founder and yogi Jhula said “Beer Yoga is fun but it’s no joke.”
“We take the philosophies of yoga and pair it with the pleasure of beer-drinking to reach your highest level of consciousness,” she added.
In some report, it shows that even Jhula wasn’t the first person to promote enlightenment through yoga under the influence of alcohol.
Jhula said in an interview with Ex Berliner, she first saw it done at (American culture festival/desert apocalypse party shitshow) Burning Man.
Enjoying the continental country’s territory, the organizers has prepared a two special sessions of beer meets asana will take place in Sydney this weekend, where students can learn yoga poses involving “beer salutations” and balancing beer bottles on one’s head—just watch out for bottle smashes.
The event page assures would-be attendees that no yoga experience is necessary. Just an “open mind and a love of beer.”
The organizers believed it will be patronized by yoga enthusiasts with a large amount of open-mindedness.
