ersonnel of Coast Guard District Southeastern Mindanao successfully evacuated the master of M/V Ten Jo Maru who suffered from stroke while onboard the said vessel on May 25.
Reports revealed that CGDSEM personnel received a directive to conduct from Coast Guard Action Center in Manila a medical evacuation to a Filipino master of M/V Ten Jo Maru Captain Crisencio Galera, 53 years old and a resident of Manapla, Negros Occidental.
Immediately, CGDSEM dispatched personnel of Coast Guard Station GenSan together with City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) Medical Team onboard BFAR MCS-3003. The team departed from Fishport Complex, Brgy Tambler, General Santos enroute to the designated rendezvous point of M/V Ten Jo Maru at vicinity 10 nautical miles South off Manamil, Balut Island, Davao Occidental to conduct medevac operations.
The team boarded said vessel and immediately conducted assessment to the patient prior the evacuation. After the assessment, Capt. Galera was transferred onboard BFAR MCS-3003 using a spine board and was brought to GenSan Doctors Hospital for necessary medical attention.
Furthermore, information revealed that on May 24 at 4:20AM, Capt. Galera suffered from hypertension attack and possible mild stroke while the vessel was transiting enroute to Longkou, China from Weipa, Australia.
Coast Guard is also coordinating with the vessel’s company Neon Maritime which is based in Singapore the present status of the ship’s captain.
