Visiting the Philippines will not be complete without taking a stop at its famous capital, Manila. The city is a melting pot of different cultures and is filled with vibrant traditions and colorful history. Manila maybe chaotic, unruly and unpleasant at present, but it is entirely different decades ago.
To show the colorful city of Manila, Google Institute published an exhibit online, titled “Manila Reborn” that portrays Manila on the past state. The collection of images from Filipinas Heritage Library tells the rise and fall of Manila on the 20th century. It contains the beauty of architecture in the Philippines, the country’s foreign invaders, the damage caused by WWII and the life of Manilenos back then.
So grab a seat, and take a tour to witness what Manila was before the war, after the war and how it rose from its destruction before it became the city we have come to know with.
