
JAKARTA – Portuguese military communications company with deep know-how and vast experience in the fields of electronics, communications and command & control, was contracted by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) of South Korea and PT PAL of Indonesia to provide complete integrated communications system for two Brandnew Philippine Navy’s strategic sealift vessels (SSVs).
The EUR1.5 million (USD1.7 million) contract, signed on 8 May, oversees the delivery of the communications suites for the two landing platform dock (LPD)-style ships, with system delivery scheduled for October 2015 and May 2016 according IHS Jane
Its Includes Harris RF Communications and EID ICCS5 communications control system, VLF-HF and V/UHF radios. EID will also be responsible for other communications system
Philippine Navy SSV completion is on May 2016 and the second one is on May 2017,
Once delivered it will act as floating command center, military transport vessel, and respond during disasters and calamities.
Each Makassar Class Vessel can carry up to 500 troops plus its also capable to carry Combat Utility Helicopters. Attack Helicopters and Amphibious Assault Vehicles
