The Russia has released first image of its new nuclear missile, a weapon that could possibly wipe out the entire United Kingdom, France or Texas.
RS-28 Sarmat thermonuclear-armed ballistic missile was commissioned in 2011 and is expected to come in 2018.
It was in June 2011, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation signed a state contract for the “Sarmat” missile, which was developed as a nuclear deterrent, according to a translation of a Russian publication. Its first photos have been declassified by the Russian government, announced October 25, 2016, CNBC reported.
According to Sputnik, the Russian government-controlled news agency, that the missile could destroy an area, as the size of Texas or France, which was reported in May.
“The prospective strategic missile system is being developed in order to assuredly and effectively fulfill objectives of nuclear deterrent by Russia’s strategic forces,” the statement, according to RT.
The new thermonuclear weapon can carry a 40-megaton warhead, 2,000 times more powerful than the bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945.
