Scientists formulated 100 % edible packaging that could replace plastic soon

Plastic waste is one of the increasing concerns in the world today.

However, researchers didn’t stop to explore new things that could solve this dilemma.

Here comes edible packaging that could replace plastic in the future.

The edible packaging is made of milk protein.

Also, it could end the dark spell of plastic waste throughout the world.

The packaging was formulated and tested in US Department of Agriculture, a major breakthrough in the food packaging industry.

Plastic waste is going wild, in fact, in America alone, the average american waste per year is 185 pounds.

As a whole nation, it ranging into 60 billion pounds.

The edible packaging is a casein-based film that is 100% edible. Unlike, other edible packaging in the market it is 500 times better at keeping oxygen away from food than plastic.

Meaning to say, this packaging makes our food stay fresh for a lot longer, while generating zero waste for the Mother Earth.

The original study was first presented in American Chemical Society.
