
MANILA- Senate of the Philippines approved the 3rd and Final Reading of the Senate Bill No. 2269 seen to expedite purchase of military equipment and Weapons needed for Modernization of the Armed Forces of the Philippines or AFP.
Senator Antonio Trillanes author of the SBN 2269 said the passage of Bill into law would amend the provision by allowing weapons system and other major equipment to be purchased as long as the same are being used by the armed forces in the country of origin or used by the armed forces of at least one country.
Senate President Franklin Drilon also said that the relaxing measure is part of Senate’s efforts to improve the capabilities of the Philippines armed forces which lack of modern equipment “by ensuring the speedy and efficient provision of military equipment and supplies so urgently needed by our fighting men and women.”
