For 12th consecutive quarter, South Korea hailed as country which offered a fastest internet speed in the world, says Akamai.
According to Akamai’s data, Seoul’s average broadband adoption rate has reached 26.1 megabits per second (MBPS) in the last quarter of 2016.
Akamai Korea, is a branch of US-based content delivery network and cloud services provider.
South Korea was followed by Norway at 23.6 Mbps, Sweden at 22.8 Mbps, Hong Kong at 21.9 Mbps and Switzerland at 21.2 Mbps.
Also, as per the data, South Korea was the only country with its average connection rate higher than 25 Mbps.
In the last quarter of 2016, the world‘s average speed was recorded 7 Mbps, a 26 percent rise on-year.
When it comes to broadband adoption rate, the said nation recorded 4 Mbps stood at 97 percent in the same quarter, the highest in the world.
Furthermore, South Korea also has the highest internet penetration rate of 25 Mbps connection coming in at 34 percent.
The fast internet service positively translate it in the country’s social media population, as per the data provided by local Korean firm.
