Hyperloop One just received a huge investment to bring Elon Musk’s futuristic transportation pods to Dubai.
Hyperloop One revealed a new system that shows what it would really be like to ride Musk’s hyperloop. The company has signed a new deal for a working hyperloop system.
According to the company’s statement:
“We’ve signed an agreement with RTA Dubai to jointly pursue a passenger and cargo hyperloop network in Dubai and between Dubai and Abu Dhabi and other Emirates. This could reduce the time from Dubai to Abu Dhabi to 12 minutes.”
CEO Rob Lloyd signed the deal with His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Transport Authority in Dubai (RTA).
Hyperloop One is revealing snippets of what it would actually be like to have the futuristic pods in Dubai. The new system features full passenger and cargo integration where the main hyperloop pod breaks down into smaller pods for both people and cargo. The passenger pods come in coach, lounge, and meeting areas, that the smaller pods are capable of road travel.
The smaller pods links to huge terminals which the company called “hyperloop portals”, that would be located in areas like Burj Khalifa and Dubai Marina — with design concepts already available.
Though significantly apart from cutting travel time, the hyperloop plays major role in building the future’s megacities as it seems that it will be operational in Dubai. Since there are still no exact date on when this will be fully functional, Dubai still continues on its path to be the city of the future.
