US Coast Guard confirmed Two of the US Navy’s F/A-18 Super Hornet fighter jets has crashed off the coast of North Carolina, Thursday. Its crews recovered and have been taken to a hospital.
Officials said four naval aviators based in Virginia Beach were pulled from the Atlantic Ocean, with minor injuries after its two fighter jets crashed during a training exercise off North Carolina coast.
Coast guard said the accident happened around 10:40 a.m. off the Oregon Inlet in the Outer Banks.
The Navy described the accident was an “in-flight mishap” involving two F/A-18F Super Hornets, as an opposed to a collision between the two aircraft. The Navy started an investigation, but details were not released yet.
