We Will Protect the Philippine Territory – Filipino Fishermen

PALAWAN –  The Filipino Fishermen in the Kalayaan Group of Island or Spratly Island in The West Philippine Sea are Willing To Protect the Philippine Territory Such as the islands and the Maritime Resources against the Illegal Poachers from China and Other Countries in South east Asia

Mary Joy Batiancila Administrator of the Pag-asa Island Said the Residents of Kalayaan Group are worried with the illegal fishing activities particularly done by Chinese and Vietnamese Fishermen around the Philippine island.

Official said Philippine Coast Guard, Barangay officials and their fishermen would often chase or warn these illegal fishers away.

“They are engaged in blast or dynamite fishing. They also use cyanide. This leads to a drop in the fish catch or incomes of our own fishermen,” Batiancila Said
